With extensive experience across periodontology, implant treatment, prevention, education, teaching and research, our clinicians are committed to delivering evidence based care and achieving the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Dr. Ahmed Saleh

Ahmed completed his Bachelor Degree in Dentistry in 2001 and practised general dentistry for 11 years before undertaking postgraduate training in Periodontics at UWA.

 

He attained his Membership and Fellowship in Periodontics in December 2014.

Ahmed joined Perio Perth in 2015 and has since taken over ownership of the practice, continuing its commitment to specialist periodontal care.

 

Ahmed has a particular interest in implant treatment and the management of the gum and bone health surrounding dental implants. He is passionate about Periodontics and believes that the key to effective treatment is good communication, patient education and scientific knowledge.

In addition to English, Ahmed speaks fluent Arabic.

 

Outside of the practice, Ahmed enjoys spending time with his wife and their two young children and making the most of time together as a family.

Renata Wells

Albert graduated in Science in 1969 and Dentistry in 1973 from the University of Western Australia.

 

He completed postgraduate training in Periodontics at The Royal Dental Hospital, University of London in 1977, followed by a PhD through the University of Queensland in 1990.

Albert has over 50 years of experience as a specialist periodontist and is Adjunct Professor at the UWA Dental School, where he remains involved in teaching, mentoring and research.

He is also a Consultant Periodontist at Perth Children's Hospital and was previously Chairman of the Dental Department, with a particular commitment to children with special needs and multidisciplinary cleft lip and palate treatment.

Albert was a Past President and Life Member of ANZAP and was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2021 for his contribution to tertiary dental education and Periodontics.

Julio graduated as a Dentist from Javeriana University, Bogotá, Colombia in 1987 and completed his specialist degree in Periodontics in 1991.

 

He practised as a periodontist in Colombia for seven years before moving to Australia and completing his PhD at The University of Queensland in 2004.

He speaks fluent Spanish and English.

Julio moved to Perth in 2008 and became Head of the Periodontology Department at the UWA School of Dentistry.

 

He is now a Senior Lecturer in Periodontology, teaching undergraduate students and supervising postgraduate students undertaking specialist training.

Julio is registered with the Dental Board of Australia as a specialist in Periodontics, is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in Periodontics, and is an examiner with the Australian Dental Council.

Renata is an experienced dental hygienist with over 30 years of experience in dentistry.

 

She has a particular focus on the prevention and management of periodontal disease.

Renata completed her Diploma in Dental Hygiene at King’s College London and her Diploma in Periodontology through Perio School, Harley Street London in 2025. She is registered as a dental hygienist in both the UK and Australia.

She is passionate about patient education and providing personalised care, with a gentle and supportive approach. Renata is particularly experienced in helping dentally anxious patients feel comfortable and confident in their care.

Outside of work, Renata enjoys surfing, cycling, walking her dogs, keeping fit and weekend trips in her caravan.
